Personal Growth Weekly #23
Hey, it’s Michael from michaelrauscher.com,
I hope you’re doing great! Let me add some value to your life this week:
You already have everything you need to reach your goals. You’re just letting certain things get in your way. My latest Medium story 6 Ways To Stop Getting in Your Own Way is all about sex things that typically get in our way when pursuing our goals. Here’s your reminder: If you walk the road less traveled, it gets easier when you’re prepared to face the emerging obstacles and setbacks head-on.
Roadblock #1: Planning for the next 5, 10, 15 years is too distant to comprehend the tasks you need to be doing. In his book Real Help, Ayodeji Awosika shares an effective practice to set goals: According to him, it’s more effective to plan the next 3 to 9 months, rather than creating a plan for the next 5, 10, or 15 years, simply because you can comprehend your immediate tasks much better than the distant ones.
“Action expresses priorities.” — Mahatma Gandhi
Roadblock #2: Pursuing too much at a time often leaves us with a feeling of continuous distraction because moving forward in one direction makes us deprioritize all the other goals. Your actions implicitly express your priorities. Just simplify and focus. Do not only commit to a particular goal to be your priority but also commit to leaving out the inessential rest. The more sacrifices you’ll be willing to make, the more progress you’ll be able to make in one direction.
If you want to know the next four roadblocks, I heartily recommend reading 6 Ways To Stop Getting in Your Own Way.
